Next Games reveals Compass Point: West – The first in a series of four games
Helsinki, Finland – 18 November 2014 – Next Games took the stage today at Slush, the biggest startup and tech event in Northern Europe, to announce Compass Point: West™, a visually stunning 3D action strategy game set in the Wild West. The game is the first in a series of four games under the Compass Point franchise and is slated for launch in February 2015.
Compass Point: West is based on a rich story, a fun line of characters, and a colorful world set in the Wild West. In Compass Point: West, players collect cards to round up brave heroes and lead the charge into epic shootouts against Orville Driller, a devious oil baron, and his henchmen. Conquering the vast Wild West, defending your own outpost alongside the tough town Sheriff and recruiting trusty sidekicks will keep players entertained for months.
“With Compass Point: West we explore the action strategy genre from a fresh, new angle by introducing an original card mechanic rarely seen in these types of games as a part of the game’s core loop. The universe we are building will line up a wide range of characters with quirky personalities in our interpretation of the Wild West”, explainedJoakim Achrén, Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of Next Games.
“We are building this game up as a service that will offer months of fun. We have invested heavily on character development and story. This game will mark a great starting point for the Compass Point series and an important milestone for Next Games,” said Teemu Huuhtanen, Chief Executive Officer of Next Games.
Compass Point: West will be launching worldwide in February 2015.
At Slush, Next Games partnered up with the organizers to sponsor an area for up and coming game startups to come to the event and showcase their games. Furthermore, Next Games’ CEO Teemu Huuhtanen and Peter Levin, Lionsgate’s President of Interactive Ventures & Games took the stage to discuss the state of the entertainment business and the collaboration opportunities innovative game developers and world’s top IP holders have. Lionsgate is an investor with Next Games.
In addition to Compass Point: West, Next Games is developing a mobile game based on AMC’s record-breaking TV show The Walking Dead. The season five premiere of the show delivered the highest ratings in series history. The episode was watched by 22.4 million viewers making the series the most-watched non-sports show in cable history.
